IC INFORMATION
PREINCARNATION
Name: Greebo
Canon: Discworld
Age: 11
Species: Cat
Appearance: Cat | Human (art by Paul Kidby)

As a cat, Greebo is technically grey furred, but under all the scars and lumps and bruises it can be very hard to tell. He's missing an eye and most of one ear, and stinks to high heaven. He is very definitely a tom.

As a human, Greebo is very definitely male. He's over six foot, broad shouldered and muscled, with a broken nose and his eye still missing. His remaining eye is still slitted like a cat's, as in Discworld while you can change a being's nature/shape, you cannot change their eyes. He has short black hair, sideburns, and tends to be mistaken for a pirate or some sort of similar ruffian.
History: L-Space | Wikipedia

At some stage in his life, Greebo was presumably an adorable, innocent, bundle of fluff. However, we only know this because Nanny Ogg, his owner, still sees him that way. To everyone else, he's a murderous demon, and he likes it that way. As soon as he was sexually mature he began his reign of terror, setting out to rape and/or murder everything that he could in the village. Most of the cats in the village (and surrounding area – Greebo has a very large territory) are now related to him in one way or another, but this hasn't stopped him yet. His attentions aren't limited to cats: the past he has 'seriously surprised' a she-bear (as well as eating another one), and chased a female wolf up a tree.

In the first witches novel, Wryd Sisters, he is lured into a room by the ghost of the previous king, and then locked there. He does this to lure Nanny in to rescue him, and it works perfectly. However, in the second, Witches Abroad, he takes on more of a major role. When the witches fly to a foreign city to take care of Emberella and her prince problem, Nanny brings Greebo along. Like the witches, he has no problem with travelling, claiming any where they land as his own territory. He has a disappointment when they land in a vampire and werewolf infested town in the Eastern Europe-esque land of Überwald, as there are no other cats, nor even anything to hunt, until he comes across an unassuming bat who has just been assaulted by garlic sausage, and one of the witches slamming open a window shutter on him. While vampires have risen from the grave, they have never yet risen from the cat, and the morning finds the town celebrating, and Greebo casually washing himself under the table and occasionally burping. When they arrive in Genua, they find that Granny Weatherwax's sister, Lily, is controlling the city into her own personal Disneyland, using animals turned human to guide the story down the path that she wants. Greebo also finds out that the local version of a witch has a familiar in the shape of a black cock that is not to be trifled with. The witches save Emberella from going to the ball by ruining her dress, getting the coachmen drunk, and turning the coach into a pumpkin, but Lily sweeps in to 'save the day', and ensure that Emberella does go. The witches realise too late, and do the only thing they can think of to stop a coach pulled by horses that were mice: turn Greebo human. It works a treat, and Greebo terrifies the mice-horses into stopping so the witches can pull Emberella out and put Magrat in her place. Greebo lets himself into the ball as well, where he struggles with human courtship and generally gets irritated by the inability of his body to do as he wishes, until he turns back into a cat.

After their adventure in Genua, the witches return to their home in Lancre, which is currently under going an attack of elves. Greebo spends most of the first half of the book reestablishing his territory, finding his way into the castle just in time to find Magrat when the elves attack. Magrat notes that he's uncomfortable around the elves, despite his normal fearsome nature. They escape the elves together, but find themselves trapped in the armoury, where Magrat discovers the armour of a warrior queen (who turns out to have been made to add glamour to the local history, but fortunately Magrat doesn't know this). Greebo, who has always considered Magrat a human shaped mouse, is shocked to watch her put it on, recalling a time he attacked a vixen with cubs and was soundly beaten. Magrat re-enacts Schroedinger's cat, by placing Greebo in a box and allowing an elf to open it, discovering that the third option is bloody furious, giving Magrat a chance to kill two more elves. After Magrat notes that the elves aren't unlike cats, Greebo slinks off in embarrassment, leaving the witches on their own to save the day.

During Maskerade, Greebo is once again dragged on an adventure with Nanny, as she and Granny Weatherwax make the trip to the great city of Ankh-Morpork to find out if Nanny is owed any money from the book that she's written (and absolutely not check on their potential replacement for Magrat, Agnes Nitt). While on the way there, Greebo startles a cook that catches him in the cream by turning human, but fortunately that wears off quickly. When they reach Ankh-Morpork, Greebo 'loses' himself in the opera house, but finds the cleaner, Walter, who is more than willing to feed him, so Greebo is more than happy to stick by him. He quite happily follows Walter around while he continues to feed him, even going so far as to help Walter in his rat catching, until the witches decide they need him to accompany Granny in her disguise as Lady Esmerelda, a wealthy patron of operas. Once again, Greebo is forced to become human, this time to act as Granny's body guard. They take over the Opera Ghost's box, and when the ghost arrives and is startled off by Granny, she sets Greebo to chase him. They catch him on the roof, where Granny removes the Ghost's mask to reveal Walter. To distract the crowd, who are about to catch up, she gives the mask to Greebo and tells him to run, since one man in a mask is much like another. It works, and the mob chases Greebo until the magic runs out and he turns human again. Eventually, one hopes, he was given the kipper that he was bribed with, but probably not until they got home.

During the next book, Lancre is taken over by ultra modern vampyrs, who drive out all supernatural beings, including the very rough, slightly Scottish, definitely not pixies (but possibly pictsies) Nac Mac Feegles, which it turns out Greebo has a very healthy fear of. This might be the reason that he spends most of the book out of sight, but he does reappear in a vampire's coffin, on whom he takes out all his anger when said vampire attempts (accidental) to use him as a pillow, bringing his vampire count up to two.

His final appearance is in Wintersmith, when he is introduced to Granny's kitten, You, who is swift to put him in his place. He spent the rest of his days carrying on much the same as normal, until he eventually ran out of lives, his death celebrated by everyone except for Nanny.

REINCARNATION
Name: Greebo
Age: 11
Appearance: Same as pre-incarnation
History: Greebo was echoed back by Nanny Ogg, as an 11 year old, complete with scars and missing eye. His missing memories don't trouble him, as he is a cat. [To be completed when he comes into game.]
First Echo: N/A. Combo character – their first echo went to Nanny.

PERSONALITY
Pre-Incarnation Personality: Greebo is a furry killing machine. The one time Nanny comments on him being anything other than her fluffy pusspuss, she warns that he's a 'fiend from hell', to which the reply is, 'well, he's a cat'. He is a cat, and even when he appears human, he is still a cat. He has four motivations: sex, food, fight and sleep (not necessarily in that order), and while he appears to sleep significantly less than most cats, he makes up for it with the sex and fighting categories, which are his favourite pastimes. He is doing his best to become the only male line in the feline population of Lancre, and will look outside of the feline population when necessary. He's almost as bad as a human, although he appears to have a little more restraint (possibly because he hasn't worked out how best to go about it yet, but also possibly because he knows that Nanny would Have Words with him otherwise).

For all this, though, when fighting (rather than hunting), Greebo doesn't fight to kill. If death happens by accident, then it happens, but there's no point in killing something, because then how do they live to know that they've been beaten? It's much more satisfying to be on the top of the food chain and let everyone know it.

Since he is a cat, he is lazy, evil and manipulative. He will do things as he pleases, when he pleases, and if he can get someone else to do the things that are inconvenient but he can't avoid, so much the better. There are two exceptions to this: Nanny, who has earned Greebo's trust, and about as much affection as Greebo can gather (and is normally in control of his food bowl), and Granny, whom even Greebo knows it is dangerous to annoy. However, if they provide some bribery as well, so much the better.

There is almost nothing that Greebo won't take on, and he's almost fearless. The list of things that he does fear, or that have in the past beaten him is short. Once, a vixen with cubs managed to beat him off, and he learnt a healthy lesson about mothers with children. He can see through Elven glamour and see what they really are, so he hates them, but has a weary caution around them that he doesn't about most things. The black cock familiar of the voodoo lady in Genua beat him down in a staring competition, and thereby joins the vixen on the list of things that has defeated him, along with Granny Weatherwax's kitten, You. And, as all living things, he has a healthy fear of the Nac Mac Feegle, a fighting clan of pictsies that believe they have already died and gone to heaven, and of Granny Weatherwax. He has, and will, take on wolves and bears, and win.

He is also fearless of new situations and experiences. Unlike most cats, he doesn't mind being removed from his own territory, since he views the whole world as his dirtbox, and he will make himself at home wherever he is (and leave his mark). This includes being turned human, which he views as an annoyance, but an occasionally interesting one. On the one hand, people rarely throw boots at him, on the other, do you know how hard it is to lick yourself with a spine that doesn't bend? While he can understand speech while human, and in theory speak back, he tends to be monosyllabic and to the point. He is illiterate and innumerate.

Any differences?: As Greebo is being echoed as a fully formed character, there are no major differences in personality. As of arriving, he has no memories of his past life, but that causes no difficulties as a cat, and he carried on as normal. As he regains memories/abilities he will start to understand a little more, but this also will not affect him.

Abilities:
As a cat:
Strength: Greebo is unusually strong and fierce for a cat, taking on all the local creatures without a problem. We know he can attack and kill a bear, but he's unlikely to have equal strength, instead using the advantage of his size. In short, while he has no supernatural abilities in this regard, he is at the upper limit of what is possible of a very large house cat.

Nine lives: As illustrated in the Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, cats on Discworld literally have nine lives. Given Greebo's age and adventurousness match up pretty nicely with Maurice, I'm going to stick with his example and say that Greebo has three lives left.

Turning human: After the events of Witches Abroad, and with the theory that once you have done a thing once, you can do it again, Greebo retains the ability to turn human. He can't do it at will (though it can be triggered by the witches, as they do in Maskerade), but it does happen when ever he finds himself in a tight spot that can't be solved in a cat form. For example, in Maskerade, he gets caught in the pantry eating cream, and since there's no way out (that isn't currently blocked by the person who caught him), he transforms. It should be noted that the way that magic works in the Discworld means that rather than his body having been changed physically, the witches work their magic by making him believe, utterly and truly on a deep subconscious level, that he is human, thus making his body change on it's own accord. This means that there is no change to his mentality. It's noted that for other animals this might be a misfortune, but for cats, it's an experience. The transformation isn't permanent – it lasts for as long as he feels in danger, or for as long as his morphic field can hold the change (a couple of hours).

As a human:
Cat-like: he retains his cat like abilities, such as his agility, his ability to jump, his instinct to jump on anything small and squeaking and furry.

Pheromones: In human form, Greebo oozes sexuality (in a way that he presumably does in a way that is unnoticeable to humans as a cat). Even though he looks like a bully, people are still attracted by him (not entirely helped by the fact that he normally transforms naked, and, judging from Nanny's reaction, is rather impressive). This can be ignored, though, especially after spending a few minutes with him, by which point it's normally fairly obvious that he isn't entirely human. It also doesn't bypass sexuality, so people exclusivity attracted to women wouldn't be affected by it.

Claws: In his human form, Greebo retains his claws, and he can extend them as normal. This is because he believes he still should have them, so he still does.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLES
3rd person/action:
Greebo skidded round the corner, back legs almost over taking his front. Behind him, the dogs barked loudly, but Greebo's face was still plastered with it's normal, smirking, cat grin. He knew this place like the back of his hand, he knew the tiny gap under the fence that only a cat could fit under. He was looking forward to laughing at them from the top of the house on the other side. He barrelled forward to the fence and...

...and the hole isn't there. Someone mended the fence! How dare they! Meddling with his territory! Greebo's fur bristled, as he growled in annoyance. He turned heel, only to find that the dogs had already reached the entrance to the alley way, and were fanning out, filling the exit.

He glanced back at the fence, but it was too high to jump, and a quick glance up either side of the alley gave no other good exit points. Even as he thought it, he felt the shift in his morphic sense, the flick of the button, his body seeking that other exit point. He arched his back, and to the dogs' surprise, continued arching, growing and stretching, fur vanishing and pink skin taking it's place as he went from four legs to two. Greebo straightened up, and up, and up, his back straightening with a series of clicks as the dogs looked on in horror.

Greebo grinned at them, a cat's grin, full of sharp teeth. “Bad dogggs.” He growled, advancing.
